Donate: ‘Undefeated Giving Day’ to help unlock generations of opportunities for ambitious CP footballers

The Pararoos – Australia’s national football team for athletes with cerebral palsy (CP), acquired brain injury, or symptoms acquired from stroke – will hold their inaugural ‘Undefeated Giving Day’ this week, with a target of $80,000 in the sights of one of Australia’s most inspirational sports teams.

Fresh from completing a one-week camp on the New South Wales Northern Beaches, the Pararoos will hold a digitally driven fundraiser to rally football fans and the Australian public behind the team, with the funds raised to be used to support upcoming CP football initiatives including the six-day Para Nationals where the next generation of Pararoos representatives will be unearthed.

The Pararoos’ ‘Undefeated Giving Day’ will commence at 5pm on Wednesday, 23 June 2021 and conclude twenty-four hours later at 5pm on Thursday, 24 June 2021.

Impressively, one committed and generous Pararoos donor has pledged to match every dollar donated during the ‘Undefeated Giving Day’ window to the tune of $40,000. This substantial pledge means that if the Australian community collectively donates $40,000 during the 24 hours, it will instantly become $80,000.

Pararoos Head Coach, Kai Lammert, said the ‘Undefeated Giving Day’ was a new but important initiative on the CP football calendar, with the funds raised to make a difference to the lives of dozens of Australians living with cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, or symptoms acquired from stroke.

“Over the past few years we’ve witnessed some tremendous support from the Australian public for the Pararoos, and this specific initiative will provide us with the opportunity to support even more ambitious Australian CP footballers who, like their peers in the Socceroos and Westfield Matildas, dream of wearing green and gold,” Lammert said.

“The funds raised through the ‘Undefeated Giving Day’ window will go directly to supporting the Para Nationals – a six-day event that will bring together male and female CP footballers from around the country to compete against one another and put their best foot forward for future national team selection.

“While not every player that attends the Para Nationals will go on to represent Australia, we believe that the tournament can help unlock a generation of opportunities, as people living with a disability are empowered to continue to play football, develop the confidence and drive to go on to realise other goals in their lives, and inspire Australians,” he said.

With the end of the financial year just a week away, the ‘Undefeated Giving Day’ comes at a good time for Australians – every donation to the Pararoos over $2 is tax-deductible, and every donation, which can be made here, will go directly to Australian CP football via the Pararoos.
