Reaction: Pararoos coach Kai Lammert buzzing

“It’s very exciting [Zest Care] is joining the Pararoos family and it gives us the opportunity to do more, to do more camps, play more games and prepare the boys even better for the upcoming World Championships.

“It will definitely help to prepare the team better. More camps mean we have more time as players together to learn the system, the style we want to play and eventually we’ll be able to play more games as well.  All our competitors will be able to play tournaments in the lead up to the World Championships.

Road ahead

With the International Federation for Cerebral Palsy Football (IFCPF) World Championships in Argentina in September, Lammert has mapped out his squad’s preparation.

  • They had a training camp at Hume City’s training complex in Melbourne over the weekend, with another camp set down for June.
  • Lammert and his coaching staff will then stage a selection camp in late July or early August where they will need to select a team for the championships.
  • Then there’s one final training camp at the start of September before the squad departs for Argentina.

Lammert on Australia's chances in Argentina

“It all depends on the players being healthy and staying healthy. It all depends on a lot of factors. But I’m confident. I’m confident we’ll perform. As long as we’re improving and continuing to move in the right direction, I’m really happy.”
